Welcome to Adavale, a tiny outback gem with a population so small, it could fit in a minibus! Once a booming town, Adavale thrived during the 1800s with six pubs, a police station, Chinese market gardens, and even a hospital. But when the railway bypassed it, the town’s prospects changed. Today, you can stroll through its history with the Adavale Town Interpretive Walk, check out quirky relics at the Outdoor Mini Museum, and explore the Police Hut Museum. For a treat, pop by the Elegant Emu for delicious home-baked goods and High Tea. Don’t forget to visit the Adavale Veterans Retreat before you leave!

Hell Hole Gorge is about 69km north-west of Adavale – you’ll need a 4WD to get there, but it’s worth the drive. Think steep rocky cliffs, deep waterholes and waterfalls after good rain. You can camp out near Powell Creek, just 750m from the main waterhole. You’ll need to be fully self-sufficient, and don’t forget to grab a camping permit before you go.
